A paper folding machine’s operating speed is the rate the paper folder’s motor is capable of running. If the listed manufacturer operating speed is 4,000 sheets per hour, then the machine will fold 200 sheets of paper in approximately three minutes. However, the maximum operating speed does not mean that you should fold 4,000 sheets per hour for several hours a day. Operating a paper folder, or any mechanical equipment, at full capacity for an excessive amount of time will increase wear and reduce the life of the machine.
The recommended amount of paper that a paper folder should handle is the paper folder’s duty cycle. The duty cycle of a specific paper folder can be found in the owner’s manual, or you can call a qualified sales associate.
